Psilocybin and LSD are incredible drugs with endless possibilities in terms of medicine, but which drug is more potent? This is one of the most asked questions throughout many drug circles, and one of the most debated topics even amongst experts. But if you had to pick one of these drugs, which would it be? This question usually gets more of a clear response than the first, as most people usually have a preference. But sometimes the answers are interesting.
My favorite answer that I've heard from asking that question to a long-time hippie was “both”.
“No”, I said, “that isn't an option”. The hippie laughed and turned around, then he began to slowly drift away, indicating that he wasn't interested in answering if he couldn't choose both. He walked for about twenty yards and then he looked back at me, “That's hippie-flipping baby, that's the best way!” I nodded, and you know what, he was right. That is the best way, but we still have a choice to make.
Now the strongest mushrooms that I've ever eaten would give just about any drug a run for it’s money. This was about 15 years ago and I was quite young. I didn't even know the name of the mushrooms, or the name of the guy I bought them from. It was at a large rock event that was full of acid-freaks, and acid was what I was trying to buy. However me, and four other people, ended up buying 1oz of dried psilocybin mushrooms and proceeded to eat two grams each once we made it to a friend's house.
I was responsible for weighing them out, and I did so on a small digital scale in a half-lit living room. I then went outside to join the others, and pass out the rations. I gave everybody 2 grams, then I ate the same amount. Well, we waited for about 30 minutes and some of the people I was with became anxious. They weren't sure we'd eaten enough, so they urged me to go back inside and weigh some more. I agreed, and proceeded back inside— only it seemed far more dark now.
I looked around and spotted a lamp, then I turned it on and sat down on the couch. I turned the scale on, then I grabbed the mushrooms and began to weigh out two more grams. That's when I realized that I was higher than I've ever been in my entire life. After looking at the “2.0” reading on the scale, the image somehow stuck with me. Suddenly the walls appeared to be covered with “2.0”— it was everywhere, like a wallpaper design. I felt such a sudden adrenaline rush, that I felt like Superman.
This dilated-pupil, colorful visual high would go on for a solid 12 hours, which is very long for a mushroom trip. Then around hour twelve, an uncontrollable sequence of yawning began. This was quickly followed by intense dreams. So that's it, right? Case closed… I specifically said that mushroom trip in particular was the highest I've ever been in my life. However that trip was before I bought a sheet of the strongest LSD I've ever had, which I must say was stronger than the mushroom trip— but let me explain.
So again, I've gone back and forth on this topic before myself. I've always had a hard time choosing. I’ve always believed that mushrooms definitely produce a more natural-feeling high, but no mushroom could compare to this LSD that I took, in my opinion. The LSD was purchased from a pretty wild hillbilly character, and the paper blotter hits were about twice as large as what I would normally see; in both length and thickness. The hits were actually so big, that I could’ve cut every hit in half and sell them as full hits— that's how strong and big they were.
I took two of these paper hits, and I literally saw the sky start to melt, and rain turn red. I saw gravel in the driveway move around like a tornado was occuring. Everybody I looked at, appeared as if they were cartoon characters. I could watch a static television screen and become hypnotized essentially. I even felt like I was able to use telekinesis, and that is no joke. I felt as if I could read minds, and communicate with the other people around me who were also on the drug, without speaking. The ceiling that had imperfections, a large water-damaged area that caused a partial cave-in, was seemingly breathing.
This trip went on and on, never seeming to be nearing an end. I went for a car ride (with someone driving who wasn't high) and the streets felt so incredibly long, that traveling a mile felt like 100. The effects would last for nearly 24 hours! I couldn't believe it, I considered myself quite the acid-taker in those days, but I never imagined being high for that long straight— from two hits. For this reason, I will have to say LSD. But that's just my opinion, I want to know what other people think. Please sound off with your choices in the comments.
Also, mushrooms are obviously what I have spent many years researching and growing. I love mushrooms and I think everyone should know how to grow them, even if you only like the prime edible ones which contains no psilocybin. All edible mushrooms possess some medicinal purpose as well, and they are incredible to study. Below is a link to my audiobook on how to grow them.
