Combining Amanita muscaria with Marijuana
Now, I first came to this conclusion that Amanita muscaria mushrooms (when combined with cannabinoids such as Delta-9) have noticeably different effects than when either two are consumed individually. There was a specific brand of gummies that were gaining popularity called “Feels”. This was by far the most superior gummies I've ever had. 2 gummies basically felt like a genuinely strong psilocybin-type hallucinogenic experience. But when I consumed Amanita muscaria alone, or Delta-9, the effects were just not comparable. Then I experimented (for lack of a better term) on several people and every one of them reported a similar experience to mine. But surely a case report or even a handful is hardly proof, right? Well sure, I'm not going to sit here and lie to you, because after all I too am a fan of hallucinogens. And I mean a true fan, I have been a psychedelic enthusiast/explorer for nearly 15 years. In that time, I've tried all of the classic hallucinogens and even some lesser known stuff, like synthetic LSD. So I'm not trying to come off as smug in any way, and I just want that to be clear before I continue. I think we are all equal no bodies, as a comedian named Ari Shaffir once said.
However, I also want to make it known that like all humans, I too can and have been wrong many times. Perhaps more than I care to admit. That being said, if I'm wrong I will acknowledge it and I will correct my mistakes the best I can. It's good to be wrong sometimes, in my opinion, because then you still have room to learn — and that's always a good thing. But one thing that I am certain about, is Delta-9 and possibly many other cannabinoids having a synergistic relationship with Amanita muscaria mushrooms (and more specifically with muscimol, the active psychedelic compound in the mushrooms). In fact I am so confident about that knowledge that I published a small book about it earlier this year. I did this because it didn't seem like anybody else was truly catching on — except the gummy manufacturers. But even these companies that were making the best gummies that I've had, again the “Feels” brand specifically, are constantly trying to keep up with the demand. Or at least that's how it would appear by how often they are “out of stock”, seemingly on every website that carries them.
Nevertheless, I was able to grab a screenshot of some reviews. Now let's keep in mind that most reviews online are in fact fake, and there are things like “review bombs” where competitors who sell similar products will leave a fraudulent negative review. So with that being said, there was a total of 4 reviews on this one website and 3 were high praise while 1 was not entirely negative, a 3-star but a bit unhappy, but then the review received several thumbs down votes.
But if you thought that my proof was going to be a few case studies and some reviews and the product being out of stock or constantly sold out, well then you'll be in for a refreshing surprise. You see, I'm friends with a guy who's involved in the production of muscimol. This friend has also mentioned this synergistic relationship and the demand for these gummies combined are far more than individually. But let's look at some other comments I've gathered online and then we'll continue from there.
Okay, so now we've seen the brand of gummies that I've constantly talked about in articles and a book, the “feels” gummies that are listed as having “350mg of Amanita muscaria and hemp-derived Delta-9” although it doesn't seem to quite clarify the specifics any further. So now, let's have a look at the “Dallas Observer”, a publication that I enjoy a lot. So when they published an article on November 29, 2023 titled “Trip Canceled: Amanita Muscaria Mushroom Gummies Aren't Magic” I felt obligated to not only read the article, but respond. Not in a smug or arrogant way, but in a genuine approach to help them better understand. But after I sent the author a message, I forgot it entirely shortly after. Then, I do what I always do usually once a month and sometimes more, and that is Google “Amanita muscaria” and clicking the “news” tab to see what's new in the world of Amanita muscaria mushrooms. So that's when I saw their new article from a month ago, which I'll include two excerpts below (but I also want to link their work, as once again I am a fan I want people to read their stuff).

So the first part was directly in response to me, as I'm the one who said I read their article and believe they have it wrong. So below I will show a few studies that further back the “theory” that I'm talking about. But I'll also state that many other substances can have a synergistic relationship with muscimol, or an inhibitory effect (or sometimes both). For example MDMA will have the opposite desired effects when combined with muscimol. But I'll show some of what I'm talking about below.
Now I am not a Neuroscientist, nor do I pretend to be. Many of these publications are in fact too complex for me to understand entirely. However what I do know, is there is a synergistic relationship between muscimol and either some, or all cannabinoids. From what I've gathered and shared, the process seems to consist of cannabinoids facilitating the transmission along GABA pathways and/or form a synergistic relationship in several parts of the brain that wouldn't ordinarily be activated when used individually. However they can actually work as an inhibitor too. But to go even further and in a more complex direction, I will share another post I saw online.

So I think that I have proved my point, and I have several more studies to prove this even further that's included in the book that's available on Amazon and Audible which I'll leave a link at the end. But I also wanted to point our the old saying among mushroom enthusiasts, and that's that mushrooms vary from region to region, and season to season. No two mushrooms are truly the same, and the same can be said for their content levels and subspecies. Amanita pantherina are the strongest hallucinogenic mushrooms in the world per gram (dry weight) in my opinion. They are roughly three times as potent as Amanita muscaria, just for example. But there are many factors at play with these mushrooms and the companies who make the edibles. Measuring the correct amount also may not be done in a perfect manner, so it's extremely hard to judge how much you should take and if you're combining with another substance ĥow much of the combination is necessary for the desired effects and so on.
In the book, I go in to much greater detail and explain the dosage that works for me and many people I know, I show several more studies of the same nature too. I also highlight other possible synergists that would work well with muscimol as well as those that don't work so well, like MDMA. I also discuss synergism as it relates to some types of fruit that can truly be effective and a lot more. So thank you for reading! And please consider supporting my work by purchasing the book. Thanks
